How to make origami shapes out of fabric and have it look nice?
I like to do origami. I also like to make hats (out of felt) for Barbie dolls. I'd love to make origami out of fabric to put on the hats. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to do this. If anyone has any advice like what fabric I could use, how to do this, etc... I'd be grateful. Thank you.

- You'll want a lightweight fabric that can form crisp folds, so something like organdy, organza, crisp quilting cottons, light silks. You may need fusible interfacing for some fabrics.. Suggested reading: http://www.fabricorigami.com/
- I make japanese kanzashi, which is similar to fabric origami. For kanzashi, I use heavily starched silk (for stiffness), then fold the fabric and glue the edges together. You can use a dab of stringless hot glue in certain points in the origami to hold the shape together. I also suggest using fray check or some other kind of anti-fray liquid on the edges of the silk square to keep the edge looking nice. Good luck!!
